Ep36: 12 YEARS A SLAVE

It's hard to write a snarky intro when the movie at hand is 12 Years a Slave, so we won't even go there.

This week concludes our unofficial "Lost Episodes" series, and finds Ian and Matt talking about Steve McQueen's powerful, challenging epic. There's also an awards-season update, a eulogy for the ill-fated "Summer Fret-rospective", and a plug for the Studio Movie Grill's 30th anniversary screening of A Christmas Story on December 4th (in addition to the one you just read).

As always, you can follow Kicking the Seat on Twitter, like our Facebook page, and rate and review us on iTunes.

Thanks, and take care!

Ep35: GRAVITY: Hey, At Least It's Still in Theatres!

The battle to recover our lost episodes continues with a long-overdue roundtable discussion of Alfonso Cuaron's blockbuster masterpiece, Gravity!

Also, even if Ian weren't hamstrung by review embargoes, he wouldn't be able to tell you about it. And Spike Lee's Oldboy remake can't get here fast enough.

These and many more egregious attacks on conventional wisdom await in this week's poorly written love-letter to the movies!

Note: The tech gremlins strike again! Due to an entirely new issue, this episode is listen-able through iTunes only. Clicking the link below will begin the download, rather than starting the episode in a new window. Whenever this mess is resolved, I'll re-post the show so everyone can enjoy. Thanks for your patience!

Ep34: We're Back! What a RUSH!

I can't believe it, either: After more than a month of technical difficulties, The KtS Podcast has returned!

This week begins the first in a three-part housecleaning marathon, in which me, Matt, and Graham discuss movies that came out during our unexpected and very unwelcome hiatus.

We kick things off with Ron Howard's Rush. Remember that one?

No? Well, enjoy it anyway!

My Hot Canadian Girlfriend (You'd Love Her. She's the Best.)

Much like that friend in grade school who claimed to have a hot Canadian girlfriend that he only got to see when she was in town for a modeling shoot, you're just going to have to trust me about the KtS Podcast:

It's still very much alive, and there's even a back-log of episodes just waiting to go up. In the last couple weeks, me, Matt, and Graham have recorded awesome chats about Rush and Gravity, and I believe Captain Phillips is next on deck. However, due to a podcast-publishing glitch with Squarespace (which hosts this site), I'm unable to post the episodes for you to enjoy.

I've been assured that Squarespace's team of expert engineers (none of whom have hot Canadian girlfriends--or boyfriends--to my knowledge) are on the case, and that the issue will be resolved as quickly as possible. Rather than banging my head against the keyboard any longer (the last three episodes were hours-long, jury rigging nightmares) I decided to call in the professionals--and that was half a month ago.

Long story short, you'll soon* be deluged with aural pleasure. I just can't say when, exactly. In the meantime, feel free to peruse any of our previous thirty-three installments for our thoughts on movies past--and to chart my progress in the ongoing war against sleep deprivation! Seriously, though, on behalf of myself and the guys, thanks very much for checking in and staying engaged. This podcast is one of the most fun things we get to do each week, and we're as anxious as you are to hear what we actually said.

Take care!

Ep33: At War Over PRISONERS (Not Really)

Two episodes in two days? You'd better believe it! Today, Graham and Ian come at Prisoners from two different angles, and somehow meet in the middle--while Matt skips the conversation entirely in order to make his bond hearing. Enjoy!

Let the Interrogation Begin!
