Welcome to Kicking the Seat!

Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).

The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar NoéRachel BrosnahanAmy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.

Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Ep91: Internet Flicks

This week, the KtS Podcast becomes conscious of streaming as Ian, Graham, Denitsa, and Matt discuss entertainment in the On-Demand age. How have online sensations like The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, House Of Cards, and Orange is the New Black changed what we expect from TV and movies? Can Ian get reimbursed for having bought The Interview two months before it hit Netflix? And are The Good Wife and Gilmore Girls secretly the most watchable shows in television history?

All this and more await on episode 91, which you can listen to all at once--or in random chunks at your convenience!

And don't forget to like, love, subscribe, and share Kicking the Seat on TwitterFacebook, and iTunes!
